First ever survey on Chess.com! (rare)

The International Criminal Court in Hague, Netherlands has issued arrest warrant for Israeli officials for crimes against humanity and facilitating mass starvation of the people of Gaza. So, it's not a popularity contest of 50/50. It's a matter of opposing injustice and war crimes. If we did this against Russia by banning their flag, why not do the same for the Israeli regime whose crimes have been much more severe?

If Chess.com banned Russian flag for political stuff, why not ban the Israeli regime flag for their crimes against humanity and for starvation of people of Gaza?

Which one is more important for you? Your forum being locked, or your stand against injustice?

I'm standing against all injustice, but we shouldn't talk about politics everywhere. There are places where we have fun, we can't talk about politics nor religion!

If it is against the rule to talk about politics, then why did Chess.com talk about politics on the main web site and ban the Russian flag?

Because they make the rules on their own website. And the rules state you shouldn't start political or religious arguing.

They're staff members, they make the rules.

A lawyer cannot break the law, just because he makes the law. Staff members are also supposed to obey the rules.

Alright, I understand your thinking process, but this is a regular forum, and I don't like discussing sensitive topics in MY forum! Hear me out: I actually want the Russian flag back. Normally I wouldn't say that in a normal forum, but I think you've forced me to talk about it.

Okay, I don't want to talk about politics or sensitive issues either. All I am saying is that we should start a new survey.

In the survey we should ask Chess.com community a simple question:

Since Russian flag was banned by staff for war crimes, do you agree that Israeli regime flag should also be banned for crimes against humanity and mass starvation of people in Gaza, as stipulated by International Criminal Court?

Why not let the community answer this question?

A better way to solve the problem is to act in a just and even-handed way and avoid double standards.

Their site, their rules. If you are not happy about them go and ask staff, but definitely this forum topic is not the place, especiallly after the author asked you to stop.

Very good point. I suppose that the heirarchy within Chess.com DOES have its own take on political issues and it can't resist the temptation, especially when its views are establishment ratified. The "establishment" led us into WW1 and WW2. It wasn't all the fault of the baddies. The establishment made bad errors regarding Covid, etc. The establishment seems at times to protect passive-aggressive posters who make personal attacks on others "just within the rules", which is nonsense, since they rightly promote the spirit of the rules *at other times*.

Yes, I agree with you. Their site, their rules. But, rules must be applied universally, and not with double standards.
