Focusing too much on one section of the board

Sometimes I will focus too much on just one section of the board, particularly a section that has some very important pieces or a section where I just moved a piece, and I will not see the whole board and as a result I will not see a piece or pieces on the other side of the board and the moves that they can make and this can get me in trouble.

That's a commom issue.  I use to get caught on that mistake sometimes. Maybe it will be useful to change a bit the distance of your eyes to the board, kind on zoom out and look to the other parts of the board.  Well, I'm not talking about blitz or bullet games.

Spend some time dwelling on the games of Alexander Alekhine and you'll improve. He loved to play on both sides of the board, using his entire army.
