Forcing a Draw

I am a beginner and still have too much to learn, and so I have a question.

Is it more difficult to force a Draw than win a game?

From watching the worlds best players in chess tournaments I see they have more Draws than Wins & Losses. Therefore I am confused about this.

Thank you,
urk
Most of us patzers hardly ever draw, we kill and we get killed.

You're probably asking the wrong question. In chess you play as well as you can, and if you played well enough, then with nearly equal players the game ends in a draw.

In top level chess things are a little different because the players are more closely matched, they know the openings out far enough that the percentage of decisive games goes down, and they are far less likely to make major mistakes, all of which means that wins are harder for either side to get. Also, at that level grandmasters often agree to an early draw before even reaching the endgame, which is called a "grandmaster draw" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draw_by_agreement), which is annoying to true chess fans, but at least it keeps the GMs from losing, which also adds to the large number of draws.

The moral is: Play for a win if

you want to get a draw!
