With regard the spammers, yes they are a pain in the proverbial and even though we have made it harder for them so spam they still find ways to come back and annoy those who really don't like seeing this in their forums.
I'll update Erik when he comes online today and see if we can look at stronger ways of controlling this.
Why not 1 topic maximum per member per let's say 72 hours or something like that. Why would anyone want to start several topics in a short time span. Even a week sounds reasonable to me.
A second advantage of this proposal is that people will start taking the topics they start more serious...
I would be fine with one topic per week. Cut down on the spam and on mundane posts like "e4 or d4" or "who's the best player" etc.
All this spam contains Indian phone numbers beginning with 091 and the number following. A software writer could incorporate a filter to sift out any messages containing such a number.
