Hmm, if both players in a chess game are praying to God, and they have different Gods, how would that scenario play out, I wonder?

Well one of them is going to hell, that's for sure.

The one who was immoral for manipulating the outcome of a fair competition right?

Not the one who did no harm to anyone.

I don't guess that would prevent God from helping out an atheist from time to time... (would he do that? idk)

@llama47 - Sophistry! Mendacity! You, sir, should be concerned more about the fate of your eternal soul than your rating!

Though I admit to being vain and weak and have been tempted to use the Lord's wrath to smite the mighty Magnus.

Actually, there is!  Thru philosophy, which is not banned here, as opposed to religion, which is banned here.

It is known as the contingency argument for the existence of a God.  It has been proven by science that something cannot come from nothing (the Poof Theory, or what some call the Big Bang theory).  Well, where did the first thing come from?  There MUST be a higher being, or some form of God.

Now, let's get this straight.  It does not prove any specific God.  It does not prove any religion of any sort.  It simply disproves atheism.  This "God" could be an Oscar Meyer hot dog for all we know.  All it proves is the existence of a God of some sort, and therefore disproves atheism!  It says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Christianity, Judaism, Muslim, Buddhist, or any other faith.  None what so ever.  Literally all it does is disprove atheism!

The big bang theory has nothing to do with creation the same way that evolution has nothing to do with abiogenesis. It's a common misconception among ignorant believers...

that actually is somewhat decent proof

not really, we can't see back far enough to know there was no natural cause, so its all just speculation

It's an incredibly poor proof that's been repeated many times.

If something can't come from nothing, then it requires fewer assumptions to use special pleading for the universe coming from nothing or always existing than to use special pleading to say God came from nothing or always existed. So not only does it rely on special pleading, Occam's razor immediately objects.

No, I'm sure that after much discussion we will all have made much progress in changing each other's minds.

Haha yeah, try to trick God... "hey God, I don't want you to help me win this game... I just, you know, want you to make me better so I can win future games"

Pretty sneaky.
