While searching the net for a free chess game for my treo, I stumbled upon OpenChess. It's free and comes with 6 additional chess engines. Supposedly, all but one of the engines were rated atleast 2300 ELO in the BT2450 test. Also included is an opening trainer which allows you to add more openings (after converting PGN to PDB).
All you have to do is download, extract, and sync it to your palm. I found it pretty tough to beat, good luck! :)
