French Defense

I'm looking for an answer, not a joke

I am not agree with this line because this line is more even better for black and almost in every game or black will win or a draw and i think you don't want to make a draw every game if someone will play with you French Defense so i think the most powerful line in french defense if you want to learn better chess play better and do anything to be the best probably you will need to play 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 and here you will need to play Knight on the d2 square and this is called the Tarrash variation. This variation is not easy to play but from this you are learning more chess more tactics you will see and if you want to improve your opening inventory i think that this is the best move of this all moves like e5, exd5, nc3, and other variations.

the best way to play against the french if you haven't booked up is to just play the exchange.
I thought you were going to say chop hanging pieces but why is everyone here recommending the exchange

Play the advance variation as someone who used to play it my lack of space was annoying as my inability to develop my knight or bishop to good squares
Note that bishop move by white doesn't need to happen can also protect with knight or c pawn if you wish

Broooooo, this is one of the i think worst variations which can be in french after move e5, if someone very want to play the 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 then after c5 play c3 or Knight on f3, this is the best lines to play
