I played the French regularly for a long time and had lots of fun with it and lots of good games with it. Someday I know I'll go back to it.
Currently I'm having an equally good time with the Caro-Kann. It's similar to the French in many ways. One advantage to the Caro-Kann is that you usually don't have have that darn Queen Bishop problem-child, that you often get in the French.
I also played the Scandinavian for awhile, and of course the Sicilian. But yea, right now I'm on a Caro-Kann kick.
