I have received random friend and game requests from people I do not know and have not played against or chatted with here before. How do they know I exist and where would they have looked me up? Why not just go to "open seeks" rather than challenge a total stranger?

I have only just registered on this site so maybe it's just something that affects noobs?

I can't answer all of your questions because I simply don't know the answers. I do know that it's not just people that are new to the site that have this. I get random friend requests and game challenges from time to time too. I don't think it's worth much of your time worrying about.

I'm looking for people I don't know (or who I know for that matter) to play chess with, people at or about my level. My ranking as of today on chess.com is around 750. Is anyone interested in reaching out, that is if you know how to? I don't.

In your profile you can adjust the ratings spread e.g. you could set it so the most higher-rated player is at most 100 points above you and the most lower-rated player is within 150 points of your rating.
