Fritz 3D Board

I have Fritz 11, and have used the 3D board.

It allows me to change the settings for the specific type of board and pieces I am using, but it does not allow me to change to any other set and board. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Your post is very unclear. Do you want 2D board or different color board ?

dwaxe

The 3D set.

I'll rephrase with pictures:

I can only use this board and set for some reason:

I can change the settings, such as texture, background color, and shadow, but I can't change it to any of these:

Does anyone with Fritz have the same problem?

argh, how can you play with those horrible reflections all over the place.  Horrible marketing bs style over substance.  Must be practically unplayable on a laptop with one of those stupid shiny screens.  Must be like chessboxing, ducking and weaving your head as you look around the board, trying to find a semi-decent angle to see things clearly.  Yell

I hope you don't use this to cheat online...

No, I only use it to analyze live games. If you look at some of my current games and the ones I recently resigned, you can see the horrible blunders I made while playing at 1:00 AM

@sstteevveenn:I want it so I can use screenies for Photoshop and GIMP.

I also have a problem in Fritz 11 where it crashes if I change it to any other 3D board. Other times, if I try to change the 2D piece appearance, it changes the appearance to letters (such as "K" for King instead of the actual king piece!) and makes me really mad.

I just keep it in 2D settings and leave the computer analysis on overnight. I gave up on the fancy 3D boards a long time ago.

I think I've found a way to make it work. Play it with the CD in.

What kind of framerate are you getting? I have an uber PC and I'm getting maybe ten frames a second.

Have you tried making an iso image of the CD then mounting it as a virtual CD drive? I have not but I have heard that the response is faster than the running the actual disc in the drive. That would make sense but I don't know if this solves your dilemma

I used to not use the CD at all.

Now I'm using the ISO with DAEMON tools, and it works great.

@WCopeland: I'm getting about 5 fps, so you're not alone.

I just think it's due to a sloppy 3D engine. A shame, really :/, I actually thought being able to play in a 3D setting where you could see your computer opponent as a 3D model physically moving the pieces with their hand or whatever was a terrific idea when Fritz 11 was first announced. I wish they had optimized the rendering properly :(

dwaxe

CM XI has a better rendering engine, but I can never figure out how to make CM XI use another engine.

I got CM10 to work with Fritz years ago, but I can't remember how. I think I had to use some sort of seperate interface to get it working right.

However,2D seems much more typical, and is useful!

If your still looking for an answer i have one.
