Fritz 8 is about 2667 (plus or minus about 30 elo), so I'd guess Fritz 7 is a little under that. Some (many?) chess engines may not be real accurate in the opening phase of the game.

How strong is Fritz 7 supposed to be? I'm asking because after following book for only 5 moves, it will say that black has an advantage. This is clearly mistaken analysis since I've been following a book opening for white. How do you reconcile these mistakes with the fact that Fritz 7 is supopsedly a very strong program?
