Fritz 8 will win in an ending.  Chessmaster stinks at playing.  I can beat the Chessmaster when I have takebacks.

That's nothing, I beat Rybka 3 using only 147 takebacks. :P

I've tried the same thing. I know Fritz 11 will annihalate Chessmaster, I'm not too sure about Fritz 8.

I've heard that chessmaster will win matches because it will hog CPU power...so the true test should have one computer per program to get a correct result.

one engine can run on each core provided you have a dual core CPU; CM would only hog it's own core not the other

Question: What's the best chess program to use and play against when your at home? I had Chessmaster a couple of years ago and thought pretty oke, especially the training part of it.

Avatar of Mainline_Novelty

I started with ChessMaster 10 and later bought Fritz 11. I think CM has more trainig features but obviously Fritz is a stronger program.

does rybka beat both?

take backs are when you make a mistake, but undo the move and make another. If you hog something, you take all of it and not let anyone or anything else use it.

Avatar of RyanMK

An example: If there are 20 pieces of candy on the table and I take 15, I am hogging the candy.

I get the first part on take backs but the hog part is still unclear can you reformulate? and thank you f

or your answer .

in basic terms, it means chess master is usunig most of the computers power while fritz is left with a small percentage.  therefore analizing positions faster and more accurate, hope that helps.

haha, funny one staggerlee, when i was 15, i used to play chessmaster 2000 (!) and i was using takebacks a lot...didn't count them, though!
