I recently (sept 2019) traveled from Sweden to  Brooklyn where Bobby and his family lived. I decided before my trip to New York that I would visit the place where Bobby lived.

It was very dirty in the building and it is in need of restauration. If I had the means I would do it and make this building a Bobby Fischer museum for everyone to come and visit.

Where did Bobby live in Brooklyn ?

He lived at Lincoln Place 560 and according to what I read at apartment Q at the top of the buildning.

I entered this building and walked up the stairs Bobby has walked up and run so many times. It was here he started his journey and deep studies to become the best player in the world. He spent much time alone in the apartment as his mother had to work to feed the family. (Source , Frank Brady, in his book Bobby Fischer ,Endgame. A truly wonderful book btw.)

Here I enter the building Bobby lived. Its not difficult to figure out where apartment Q is.

First I film outside before I entered.

Well, I have something to tell which is related to him.  I never met Bobby personally, but I have met a player who played draw with him. The player was World Champ Botvinnik. I met him in Moscow central chess club . I interviewed him to finnish chess magazine named "Suomen shakki" . Naturally I asked his opinion about Bobby. He told about his game with Bobby (surely I was not the first one asking about the game). He told that Kasparov was 13 years old when he found another way the game would be drawn.  Bobby was 19 years old then, before the game he boasted "I can give Botvinnik 2 points in odds in 24 games match, and still beat him" . Botvinnik answered after their game : "I can give Bobby a pawn in a game, and still draw with him"  An ironic comment from Botvinnik , yes ?  :=) wink  Jyrki
