Game drawn - insufficient material

This is ridiculous. Why EVERY time I'm winning on time (like 1 min or so) the game is suddenly drawn to insufficient material?? Is it because I have less figures than the opponent? But then isn't the time the most important thing when you play Blitz (5min game)? Can anyone help me understand what is going on here?

It means that no matter how many more moves you make, you'll be unable to deliver checkmate. ex. king and knight versus kinh

Well yeah, you have to have sufficient material for mating. Them's the rules.
