For game improvement. For starters, Learn and practice about 6-12 openings. 2nd you need to solve tactis/ chess positions. This will help you visualize the chess board and difeerent combinations that can develop during the game. Watch and concentrate on every move. Watch for threats and possible attacks and learn to calculate the moves. Start with 3-6 moves ahead. King safety is priority #1.  The more checkmate combinations and patterns you know. The more likely you can checkmate the enemy king. Get a thick extensive endgame book and study the end game. There's a good website you can buy used books real cheap. www.abebooks.com. You can go on you tube and you can watch chess instuction videos. There's plenty of books out there. Both good and bad. I usually go to amazon.com and look at the reviews on what people say about the books. Sit at the chess board and pieces and experiment and study and learn all you can. Good luck. John Moyer and my username is tinman5150. If you have any questions. email me. It's not going to happen overnight but with patience it will come.
