Game plans and ideas

Is there any good articles on how to note down game ideas and plans here at chess.com or anywhere else for that matter. Entering moves and so on in the free text field on the game page is so cumbersome, i don't use it.

Perhaps i'm doing it wrong?

How does other players do it?

I usually play the online turn based chess with at least 3 days per move. It's difficult to keep track of all the games in my head.

Then don't play as many at once. Play only 2 or 3. When I played online games I would keep my notes in the notes section.

I use Fritz and make databases and annotations.

It is better not to note them down but try to remember them. It's an abilty that will increase by time.Remembering patterns is an important ability to develop.Remembering your plans , even your lines in 10-15 games(or more) is part of becoming a better player.

I feel i need some support until i'm strong enough to remember the lines for all my ongoing games.

Writing chess moves in the free text field is so cumbersome that i don't use it for that very reason.

Sure, i can reduce the number of active games. But i don't see how that helps me.

One suggestion i can give is that before making your move, replay the last 3-5 moves you played and think why you played them or what plan you had while playing them, then you'll know what to play next. This method helps me to keep track of my plans when i play around 40 games at once.

You said that you have trouble keeping track of all the games in your head.

By reducing the number of games, you have less to remember. Once you get proficient at 3 games at once, increase to 4. Once you start playing 4 at once easily, go to 5.

You don't run a marathon on day one, you train at shorter runs and build up.

There's some merit to the various responses so far, although you may want to try jotting down your notes in a regular notebook, which I have tried in some more complex positions. Playing only as many games as you can handle (but pushing it just a little), replaying and using the analysis board (more than once during your 3 days), etc will help you become stronger at keeping track with some practice.
