Game stealing my time?

Does anyone know why the game kept stealing and taking time off my clock and giving it to my opponent?

Maybe you're referring to https://support.chess.com/article/423-why-did-the-clock-times-suddenly-change-the-clocks-seem-broken.

No, it is literally taking time off of my clock and adding that time to my opponents clock

It’s done this the last two games with two different players

If you have high lag or are getting disconnected from the live server, you can see that. The site allows up to 1 second of lag and anything beyond that counts against your time.

In a case like that, the clock starts immediately after a move is sent and the system will have to change the clock when you finally receive the opponent's move.  That means your opponent's clock can increase. Also, due to only allowing a maximum amount of lag, your clock may have time subtracted if that is exceeded.

The server keeps the official time, not the clients, and the client update after the receipt of each move.

That is more or less what is explained in the link @sred provided.

Some things you can do to improve lag and disconnects,
