Capablanca and Kramnik were the players that followed Crafty at 12 ply closer than other World Champions according to one study, going by their title matches (Kramnik's loss against Anand not included). Maybe this says less about accuracy than about being very positional players since an engine at such a low ply often would evaluate tactically messy moves incorrectly. Crafty was 200 points weaker than Kasparov when the study was made, and Karpov was evaluated as playing better than Kasparov in their title matches even if he never won any of them. A study made today with a 500 points stronger engine would give a different result.

If you've ever seen some of Kaspy's bishop manuevering, you'll know that there doesn't need to be two.
