2000 bullet rating
<Telestu> You did well to post. It's very healthy to brag!! Especially when you've gained bragging rights :-)
Yeah, I'm definitely not on that level keisyzrk. Not here, but I've played some NMs blitz and bullet OTB at my club. I don't always lose, but it's easy to tell they're better than me!
@solskytz
Seems like a healthy attitude, I like it.
1|0 games. I decided to play until I got a 2000 rating. Apparently I wasn't paying attention (went over and back down) so it ended up taking 5 hours. ~5 hours of constant play got me 168 games. I was really happy at the end (and my dog too, who needed to go out).
The pure idiocy when the clock gets down to just a few seconds for each player was the most annoying... it always felt like anyone could win, like a coin flip. I think my longest game was 90 moves!
Might see how far I can get in 3|0 tomorrow.
"It's very healthy to brag!!"
Hmm, we might disagree on that one. But, you know, people disagree on things.
If I could use just 2 seconds fewer per game I'd win all those positions where my flag drops while I am just about to deliver mate, or have so much material that it would be unloseable at any slower time control.
But however I try I just cannot make my moves fast enough. Even when I reply instantly, with my mouse hovering over the piece I am most likely to move, my clock goes down by more than 1 second. Yet my opponents seem able to get their moves in in a tiny fraction of a second. What is going on here?

Go here

and enable premoves
Premoves are when you move during your opponent's turn. The site remembers the move and will immediately play it for you after the opponent moves (if it's still legal).
A safe premove is, for example, a recapture
Premoves can also boomerang in case the opponent has an option that you didn't predict, which makes your automatic move legal, but nasty.
The example given by Telestu is perfectly safe, though - as it would ONLY be legal if black goes exd4.
premoves is so dumb.In real life you cant premove so why should you online?
It lets you play faster. In real life a 1 minute game is too fast because your hand has to travel from the clock to the board. The mind can play faster than the arms can move. With a mouse and playing online, you can play closer to the speed of your mind.
Of course the games are very low quality, especially with no increment. I don't think I'll play bullet for a long time. The games were not satisfying.
@ telestu, dude I've gotten so many people with that trick in post 20. Anytime an opponents first move is g6/b6 I always go for It and at my mediocre level it works probably around 60% of the time. They get so mad lol.
One trick is when there is an obvious capture or check (like in keisyzrk's example) you purposefully pause and don't move. The opponent is more likely to set up a premove. Then you can pull off a trick like he showed to win the queen. I've seen players do this...
So whenever my opponent pauses (and I think there are tricks like this), I immediately cancel my premove ![]()

Funny, fantastic, impressive, frustrating... :-)
I've been there. I made it - then fell back...
it's not easy, it's nerve-shattering, and I keep asking myself - why the hell do I even need this? :-)
The power of compulsion!!
