Games with no time limit

14 days per move + 90 days of vacation isn't enough?

What, you want your grandchildren to inherit your unfinished chess games in your will?

There is a certain scala based chess website that allows for unlimited time correspondence games.

Because we already have one. Remember dear friend, there is only one wheel in the universe. 

Chess.com is here to make money and innovate the chess world to improve the human condition dear friend. Adding unlimited time correspondence does not achieve any of the two previously mentioned objects.

LOL, and as soon as you get in a bad position you stall the game forever.

Food is not free. 

Have you seen how some lose there mind when someone goes on vacation, and now you want to introduce indefinite games?  

That i understand, but sadly it wouldnt work overall.  

I play a lot of correspondence games.  If you can't make one move in 2 weeks most of the time you are just too busy to play chess.  Come back when you have more time.   I have a hard time believing anyone can't find the time for the looser time controls unless they are playing hundreds of games.   

Even back in the day of real postal chess (with post cards) you didnt need an indefiniteamount of time. 

Accept what?  My playing days are basically over.  

If i dare? An online game of chess is about as far as it gets regarding a dare.  

Im 55... a dare for me now is going the whole day without a nap...or eating bacon.

Blood can still flow to your 5th extremity after 55, do not lose hope my friend. 

Being busy has nothing to do with it.  I just have no desire to play a serious game of chess at the moment.  Will that change at some point?  We will see.

While i have no doubt youre a better player than i am.  Id still give you a run for your money :-)

I think the biggest problem is that the games would get stuck if someone abandons their account. Then staff has to deal with requests to cancel games, when someone may return, etcetera. It is really a hassle if anything. I think maybe another good option may be to lengthen the time allowed, if agreed upon by both sides. 

Unlimited time, so that at the slightest hint of a losing situation I can walk away with no possibility of losing? I like it!

An unlimited time game is technically a substitute for physical board and pieces, where we can play the way we want with dear ones like our close friends and family members (whether they are in front of us or anywhere in the world). It has its own advantage. However, I too am of the same opinion that this will not work with virtual friends who may stall the game without moving further.

Honestly, having a time limit per move sounds better, like a max of 3 min per move or smth during a game

Hi all! I play with some dear older folks (think 90+) on here, and they frequently miss notifications and forget to make moves. Even with the longest time span, this has caused us to end several games accidentally. I'd love to have a game with unlimited time, or a way for me to extend the time if the time runs out without causing them to automatically lose. Would that be possible?
