If you are coaching a younger child chesskid.com.  If you are a younger kid who has a parent / teach / coach then chesskid.com.  Otherwise chess.com

But what if you're a young child without a coach/teacher/parent? And what if you're a young player but you're really good and advanced, where would you go?

ANOK1

no worries we all have questions and by asking sometimes we get answers

ANOK1

your last question is a very good question , id say go chesskids but if you aint being challenged in your ability try chess.com , its about your growth as a chess player that must come first , find those who make you think  be that at chesskids or chess, com

But if your a young child and you go to chess.com, you might wander into forums and learn some things you shouldn't have learned. You might also add random people as your friends by accident.

ANOK1

yes that is certainly an issue , it may mean having a legal guardian close by to monitor what stuff the child sees , and maybe limiting time accessing a site of varied age

safeguards would make sense as some of the stuff on the internet can be wrong for juniors to see

the safest obv is to not access cc until later in years but use chesskids ,where the site is dedicated to making a safe fun enviorment for chess and children

I learned when I was 9 but there was nowt like this , my maths teacher taught me while I was on detention , but the only other option for chess was to join a club , which I found boring lol as I just wanted to have fun and not watch a grey hair spend 30 minutes over a move ,

But chesskid is more expensive. You have to buy a membership before you can do anything, and the membership is more expensive than the basic membership on chess.com. What do you mean by "safeguards" sad.png

But how did you find chess.com if you weren't interested in chess?

safeguards , having certain sites blocked , setting time limits on usage of online  having in place admin teams that will listen to any problems the child may have and acting on them if needed

, I didn't realize the membership cost was higher , is there a non subscriber option at chesskids like there is at cc?

MathWizKidA

I really don't know. It's been such a long time since I last went online in ChessKid, and I don't know what it's like to not be a member. Sorry if this isn't any help (which it probably isn't lol).

Yeah, you can't even play the computers till you get it

How do you know so much about chesskid?

I used to play there a while ago.
