If threefold repetition could work that way, I could well draw any grandmaster.

I was playing a game of chess and I knew I couldn't win so I did Kf4, Kg5, Kg4, Kg5, Kg4. Kg5, Kf4, Kg5 in hopes to get a draw via Threefold-repetition and I didn't get a draw. This is the second time this has happened, the first time it happened I thought it was a bug.

The threefold repetition rule isn't about a player moving a single piece back and forth. Rather, it is about reaching an identical board position three times. Because your opponent is moving his pawn down the board, this is creating unique board positions every time.
