Well, as long as you admit it that's a good first step.

Same thing, people tell me "just resign, everything is lost". I don't believe that, there's always a way.

okay thanks for the heads up!

Yeah and makes me think will this be useful in life. But yes it is, never giving up even in the worse situation.

TheCalculatorKid

resigning is bad sportsmanship, it denies the victor a checkmate they have worked towards.

GMKyleP

That’s why you don’t resign

There could be stalemate

I find there's only two types of players, those who will play on trying to achieve checkmate because they understand that's their job. And those who feel some strange sense of offence so they try to punish me as if the game continuing is any kind of punishment lol. the latter end up in ridiculous stalemates because they didn't go for checkmate straight away.

Resignation is an option... Not an obligation. If you play a GM in an open tournament or simul, you can play till checkmate.

auto correct should be ban.. Its annoying. I would only resign if anyone I play against goes on vacation right when they are about to lose.

I like how things work in pro shogi. The game does not end until the loser resigns, no matter what is on the board, including mate. I presume if someone tried to lose without resigning, they'd get fined. Anyways, I think it'd be funny if you were forced to resign at online chess by selecting a prepared resignation phrase, or else suffer a big rating hit (like -30). Examples such as...

  • Thank you for taking the time to play such a worthless patzer.
  • My chess skill is trash compared to your brilliance.
  • There was no chance for my inferior strategy.
