Capablanca was correct and you are wrong; chess isn't 100% tactics - even if only joking. 

Granted, tactics is very useful, but it is over-rated. What you intend to convey is the importance of pattern recognition and to this I agree, but so would Capablanca I'm sure. Endgame knowledge is essential from a strategy standpoint especially. It helps greatly to have confidence in your endgame ability and then be able to steer middlegames into those endgames happy.png

It was Teichmann who said chess is 99% tactics and modern engines prove him right: humans do not get to an endgame against an engine and succumb to middlegame tactics.
