Tbh I don't see the point of making a thread about this. It's not like there is any specific gain in a rematch.
When people run away from a second game...
For me playing someone else is more fun than playing a rematch.

I rarely do rematch. Reasons
1. I need to review my game with my mentor Stockfish where I missed tactics.
2. I want to play with another new player.

* I think the biggest reason to do a rematch is common courtesy, especially if you’re talking just a couple minutes game.
* Other than that, I believe you learn more when you do rematches, because your opponent begins to understand your weaknesses; tries to take advantage of those weaknesses and that forces you to face your weaknesses and work on them in real time. In a sense, you play on a deeper level when you do rematches. I’ve done many rematches with easier and tougher opponents. There’s something exhilarating about losing a couple of games and then finally winning one. By the same token it can be very eye-opening to easily win several games just to then lose one. You are missing a whole dimension to playing chess if you never or rarely do rematches. I feel there’s something very superficial about always only playing new players.
I never accept a rematch unless from my friends. I'm not a coward. I just want to get better at chess!
I'm really really upset that I no longer get notes on my profile telling me what a coward I am for not instantly doing it another time when asked. Look, girls, I'm old and can't be sure that I'll have as much fun the second time.

It is not a common courtesy to insist that someone plays with you when he doesn't want. It's certainly not a common courtesy to call him a "coward". I suggest you to think well about your own moral standard before you start preaching to others.
I know that I miss many dimensions of playing chess because of the lack of time but rematches are nowhere on my list.
One thing you probably don't realize is that in competitive chess the only 2 formats where you play more than 1 game against same opponent are matches and double round-robin tournaments. And those are played at highest level only. In all the other formats (which are probably like 95% of competitive chess) - swiss tourneys, single round-robin, team matches, olympiads etc. - you play just 1 game against same opponent.
In 10 years of OTB chess in a club I have never played in a competition with more than 1 game against same opponent. Why did rematches became such an issue for some amateur online players is beyond my understanding.

It is only after a loss that a rematch is asked. Never after they have won. Odd that. But how they grumble. You were lucky.

For the love of god stop making this topic relevant.
It's funny how people keep visiting threads like these while they're annoyed by them
Anyway, here's my two cents;
I've been playing online chess for god knows how long. I've witnessed the early beginnings of chess servers like these. But in all that time, my rematch offers have never been rejected as much as on chess.com. It is absolutely ridiculous on here. There's simply no point in trying. 9 out of 10 times your offer will be rejected. So i do get the point and understand the frustration of the people that start these threads. Sure, people are not obliged to give you one. But like i said, i've been playing online for god knows how long, and never have my rematch offers rejected as much as on here.

Yeah and it's funny that after they decline your offer and you encounter them again some other day, when they forgot all about you (otherwise why else would they play you again), and you win, Then they start asking for a rematch! And if you accept (i often do), and they win, your rematch offer will be rejected right after.

Chess.com members aren't allowed to voice annoyance with this constant topic being made nonstop?
K
By all means, but why would you? Just like asking for a rematch, voicing your annoyance is a waste of time. But hey, be my guest and annoy yourself some more
But dont overdo it. You might lose some of your pretty red hair over it

Could it be that with early chess servers waiting time for a match was measured in minutes and you'd better play a rematch than wait?
I just don't get it - people get frustrated (?!?!) because they can't play same anonymous opponent again while other anonymous opponents are available within seconds?
Playing others is something else to do.
