It's weird he had nearly the same voice.

That was part of the reason he took over after Gabriel left.  In an interview i think it was either Mike Rutherford, or Tony Banks said that Phil Collins sounded more like Peter Gabriel, than Peter Gabriel did.

Gene Krupa - Buddy Rich drum battle.

Was Buddy Rich the one that could do a roll on the snare drum with just one hand?   If so, he was incredible too.   Maybe the best of all-time.

Yeah, Gene Krupa was awesome.  Never heard of Chester Thompson.

Chester was the tour drummer for Genesis, and Phil Collins.  He was also the drummer for the jazz band Weather Report.

Ok, thanks.   I like Genesis too.   And I didn't say that Phil Collins was THE best singer of all-time.  Just one of the best.   I'm not 12 either.   I'm 56 and grew up on classic rock.  I'd put Dennis De Young, Steve Walsh, Steve Perry and David Lee Roth ahead of Phil Collins, as well as Michael Jackson, Luciano Pavarotti, Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston.   Forgive me if I left anyone out.   But yeah, Phil Collins is in my top 10 or 20 too.

56 here too.

What's eek about a Sam Cooke replacement

MJ is overrated. Freddy Mercury sings much better.

IMKeto

Dennis DeYoung is an very underrated singer.

'Whistling tunes we piss on the goons in the jungle'. Regardless of your thought provoking lyrics Peter, we will censor this.

No Paul Rodgers on the list?  But then he'd be the Otis redding replacement.

Who is the greatest rock band of all time? I vote for Deep Purple.

First time hearing Steve Walsh mentioned in a list of top singers.   But then have only heard a few from Kansas.

Yeah, he's my #1 best of all-time.   People laugh when they hear the name "Styx", but those guys had some serious talent and song writing skills.

IMKeto

Always a HUGE fan of Kansas.

As a singer he had a powerful voice that I liked but I felt he lacked expression to be put on the greatest list.   Any particular song reference?

I love his voice and Kansas, so I had to include him.

We are the same age, and maybe it was different at your high school.  But you weren't considered "cool" if you liked bands like Styx, Journey, or any of those "soft rock" bands.  To be really cool, you had to be listening the Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and those types of bands.

kindasponey whined: "If you talk about someone not having a style, it seems reasonable to me to consider the questions mentioned by GM John Nunn in his discussion of style. Can we correctly assume that you do not want to present any reasons to doubt that KingSideInvasion has answers to questions of that sort?"

What is the point of this endless, passive-aggressive whining? The OP's question has been answered at length. If it hasn't been answered in exactly the form and wording that you attempt to demand, that is a "You" problem.  If you think that endlessly spamming every chat with the same tired quotations is useful, well, it's a free country.
