getting booted with a message “logged in elsewhere”

It happened for the second time today. What’s up with that? I’m not logged in 2x as far as I know. I might have chess.com open on a computer, but I don’t think so and I was mid game when I got booted.

If you have multiple tabs open to Live on the same computer, tabs open on multiple computers, or have Live open on a computer and a device, that can happen. Some browsers will reload idle background tabs and cause that to happen.

I had that happen once when I accidentally left a Live tab open on a machine and went to another computer to get into Live. After a while, that old tab must have forced a reload, kicking me out of Live.

Thanks, this has happened to me from time to time and it's always puzzled me.  I figured that it should not happen because I got on using the device I was currently using. I did not know web pages could load like that.

I got kicked off my phone 2x today. When I got home today my laptop was on and chess.com was open.  I bet that was it.

Not a biggie, but still surprising to me because it's never happened to me with other websites that only allow one device.

Yeah, ideally the system would prompt if it sees a newer connection and ask if the other session should be closed. That way, if there was an idle tab on a different device, it would would never accept the new session.
