Ghost move option

Not sure if this is a new idea or not, but I was thinking about a ghost move option: If enabled, when you move a piece it is initially ghosted out. You then have to click the piece for it to become your move in the game. Click anywhere else and it is taken back.

It might help raise the standard of play among us beginners -- fewer games decided by someone simply hanging a piece.

OTOH, ultimately you need to be able to visualize several moves ahead, and so it could be argued it won't help in the long term.

Thoughts?

Don't get you.

You can click-hold-drag the piece if you've got a steady hand and a decent mouse

AdvLegitimate, that's right I'm talking about being able to see moves ahead on the board. But what is the "purpose" of visualization?

Visualization is only a part of chess out of necessity. You could bring a second board with you to an OTB game, but it would be quite slow to play out variations and you may need to hide what you were doing from your opponent. In Internet play, why not?

.... isnt that considered cheating if u do it OTB
