For a quite substantial amount of seconds, I thought you meant that his chess abilities were weakened from donating blood.
Giri has drawing blood
your something Teich. he would beat you blindfold and with ease.
yet oc "giri has never been... a....talented player"
I feel so bad for the guy, though he can be a bit cocky so maybe in the long run this will help him.
I just wonder what it would have been like for petrosian coming up if the Internet existed then. People said the same things about him, but both players play interesting chess, their instincts are just to take the draw rather than take risks to win but maybe lose (a la Carlsen)
Only when Sopiko has a nice makeup on.

If ten people in this thread tell me to I'll draw something in blood to prove I'm at least as good as Giri.
If he has no talent I would actually respect him even more than I do right now. With no talent, it would take a great effort to work up his way too the top.
But he does have talent. And those idiots screaming that he draws too much just look at the results of his games, and don't look at the games themselves. Personally, I think Giri's games are some of the most interesting of those players in the Top Ten. He would be even higher if he worked on his conversion a bit, as he often lets other GMs slip away from his fingers when he's winning.

Pretty much this. He may draw a lot, but he's not a Leko type. His positions are interesting and he does get winning advantages. No one is perfect though, and sometimes his wins turn to draws as in the game the OP is referencing.

I don't think it's necessarily this that people don't like. I mean, people draw games all the time, but the thing with Giri is that sometimes, he faces some unknown preparation when he plays with the white pieces, and then he just goes for the draw right away. Or sometimes he just seems kind of scared by his opponents, at least on the board (At the press conference, he is trash talking away all the time) and goes for the draw instead of a more interesting option. Right now Giri should probably take some more risks, kind of like MVL or Caruana.

I am dissapointed at Giri. I am scared for his health.
Did you guys see how sneaky he was against MVL?
He wanted to offer a draw but didnt want to get bullied on the media and so played Ka2!!!!
What is happening to him tho? Why does he draws in winning positions? I think he has drawing blood, draws are his intuition.
Should I invite him to one of my hospitals now that he is in the U.S. to give him some of my Spartanish Aryan race blood? I am tired of watching him draw!! Specially after he played the move I recommended him via phone last knight (Ka1!! 1-0).
