Go Fabi!!

I'm not saying Magnus is going to lose for sure. But this is going to be his greatest challenge to his title, to date.

Fabi is at the top of his game right now.

And Magnus....not so much.

BoboTheFlyingSheep67

The rating point gap between Fabi and Magnus is like 7 points

One very interesting point about the individual meetings between Caruana and Carlsen is that there's such a high percentage of decisive games between them. I think Carlsen said it's more than between him and nearly all other top 10 players (probably with the exception of Carlsen v Nakamura).

Yeah

Too bad Naka never won any of those.

Ok. I just thought of this. Wait for it...………… wait...……….. Fabilous. Or is that too corny? If it is, it's Sunday morning and I'm hungover, so that's my excuse.

How about "Fabi-on-a-roll®" (I took that from another forum)

This will be fun!

Hopefully better than that snooze-fest between Magnus and Karjakin.

If Magnus does anything else than winning (as black!) today against Peter Svidler, does he lose his n°1 status? Only 4 points appart with Caruana, Svidler has 83 ELO less and its the last game of the tournament. Exciting

Edit: I checked and it seems that a draw would maintain Magnus to n°1 with a 3 point lead (2,4 to be exact, but 3 after rounding). A loss would make him lose 6 point, win = +4 points

I know. I'm hoping that Magnus loses a few more rating points.....

Also, yesterday, Ding Liren came so close to beating Magnus (If he had won, Magnus would be number 2 in the world) , but then he made some small inaccuracies and drew the game......

Magnus is winning undoubtedly to Fabiano, however something Fabiano could do to have a chance is practice endgame and be like Bobby Fischer, go for a win (even with black pieces) never for a draw, if Fabiano doesn't do this Magnus will crush him easily, sooner or later. FABIANO CAN'T GO TO TIE BREAKS if that happens Magnus is obviously winning, no chance. even though I don't personally think Fabi has any chance of winning

varelse1

I agree on the tie breaks part.

Magnus is definitely better than Fabi, at speed chess.

BoboTheFlyingSheep67

Yep probably true. If Fabi wants to win, he has to do it in the classical section - or else will have to pull off something like the Sinquefield Cup 2014, except in Rapid Chess.happy.png

BonTheCat

Undoubtedly, though, Caruana is the one who's been playing the better chess of the two this year.

Maybe Fabi (and not-Fabi supporters) can predict some results of the WCC in the link below tongue.png Many members is joining, maybe 100+ before we start happy.png
