Who here would be interested? I'd like to see a bullet unrated tournament, but anything would be nice.

Farooq_Abdullah

Yes, it’s possible to checkmate with two bishops

BadeeyaDancininSeptember

hmmm did you mean to comment in a different thread?

Farooq_Abdullah

Yes, it’s also possible to check it with the bishop at night

I think it would be nice if they had unrated tournaments. I've only seen them once or twice. It would be cool if they had a couple a day (so to cover different time zones) for the most popular time controls.

I would do an unrated rapid tournament. Anything faster is a waste of time. Just go buy some dice and gamble in the alleys.

my moto is if it's fun it's not a waste of time

I could see unrated rapid being nice though. I don't know a lot of opening theory and it seems like if you screw up the opening in rapid your likely cooked.

Well, just as easy to screw up a dice roll.

i feel like it would benefit the higher elos more than the lower elo cause they probably know things like deep theory, tactics, and strategies

yeah for sure, but I imagine it would be nice too for when a lower elo got matched with another lower rated elo to not have to lose points if you lost.

blitzinhoo
yeah but that would be impossible if it was unrated, since the probability of matching up against high elos has more chance than the lower elo, the lower elo would probably not find anyone near his rating since it is unrated

why is that? I thought there were more lower rated players than higher rated players

BadeeyaDancininSeptember

or maybe it's the same?

BadeeyaDancininSeptember

I thought in tournaments there were always enough people to get matched against a similar skill level most of the time. I don't play them too often though

blitzinhoo

if theres alot of high elo players then low elos will struggle, since the majority will be high and more high players means that less low elos will match up against each other

blitzinhoo

i know this because im like 700 elo on lichess and during rapid, i get paired with alot of high rated players, usually like 1000-300 elo higher and its hard because i dont really know that much openings and what to do after

BadeeyaDancininSeptember

well I suppose they could set limits on the ratings like over or under 1600 unrated bullet or something like that

BadeeyaDancininSeptember

or over under 800

blitzinhoo

yeah theres that, but the thing is that the low elo players will suffer because they're put up against higher ratings, that will confuse them on what to do most of the time
