Got kicked !!!???

I got kicked from live chess for jokingly telling someone to smoke weed cause they were bored ??? R u guys for real ? U do realise that weed is good for u and there's medical evidence that supports this. I mean comon, r u guys serious ? I didn't even insult anyone ? And I'm getting kicked, what a fukin joke, it's 2015 guys, it's legal !!!

For what it's worth, while I'm in favour of legalization, I think suggesting that weed is good for you is a bit much.  From dependence issues to the cancer risks associated with inhaling any sort of smoke, there are downsides to the use of weed.  As for the it's legal argument, well, that's a bit ridiculous.  First of all, as much as I'd wish it otherwise, it's still largely illegal in most countries.  In places like the USA, it might be legal at the state level in certain places but the federal laws still prohibit it.  Do I think the laws need to be modernized?  Yup.  Do I think there are benefits? Sure.  But pretending that weed has no downside and is legal everywhere is just silly.  So maybe suggesting someone commit a largely still illegal act might not have been the smartest move.

You can always eat weed pastries to avoid smoking it:)

I think I can understand chess.com's reasoning.. lots of kids come here to play chess. If their parents see things in the social aspect of the site that are a bad influence (in their views), and that the site condones/allows it, then they will keep their kids off, and probably go around writing bad reviews, etc.. telling other parents that the site isn't a "family"-suitable place to be...

I think this is absolutely ridiculous. I've been in chat rooms where people talk about the most retarded shit, call people and all sort's of derogattory names and nothing seems to happens to them. All I did was jest about smoking weed, which is one of the most medicinal plants known to man. And hey, despite what u mite think Moriarty, it does not induce dependancy issues seeing as u do not get addicted to weed. Maybe an individual mite psychologically get addicted, but there is no physical addiction. U could get psychologically addicted to food for instance. Like anything in life, if u abuse it, ofcourse there are adverse effects. But if u abuse food u end up with obesity, cardiovascular problems, diabetes...the list goes on. Maybe we should make it illegal to talk about food then in the chat rooms ? And also, it's a proven anti-carcinogen and repairs damaged lungs due to the caniboids it contains. There r no downsides, unless u consider being lazy and eatting a lot a downside brother :). And hey kaynight, if u'de ban me for expressing myself I'm completely cool with that. It would b a joke, but hey, the moderating on this site is a joke to begin with.

Split hairs all you want.  Dependancy is still dependancy.  And I could find you studies saying that there may indeed be a link.  Big deal.  The reality is that there aren't a whole lot of studies being done on substances that are still generally illegal.  Furthermore, at the end of the day, all that is irrelevant. You were joking about a practise that is still illegal in most countries and that's likely why you got banned.  Maybe you should have just joked about food instead.
