Graphics Change, My Rating Drops...

I suppose this is a direct result of my being an old fuddy-duddy without much experience playing on computers or phones... but am I the only one?

Every time the graphics/formatting changes on a chess program or app (such as the recent update to chess.com) my tactics rating (or some other marker of how I'm doing at any given time) drops a few hundred points before I adjust to the new look and get back to where I was before.

You'd think slightly changing the images of the pieces wouldn't have much effect.  At least it's only temporary.

I've noticed the same effect in other programs as well.  In one that doesn't track ratings, my ability to beat the computer (at a low setting) disappeared when the graphics switched to a marbled board.

Makes me feel old.

Everyone who doesn't play a class below their true skill level on a marble board has no taste.

You could use the options to customize the board graphics to restore a familiar appearance,
