Greatest blunder in the history of chess?
Anand's blunder in London Chess Classic against Michael Adams. He played Bc4, after which Qd1 (or e1) threatening Ra1 (or b1 or c1) and mate. watching it live, it was amazing.

Ivanchuk missed a mate in one against Anand, that must have been bad.
Blitz though.
Blitz is a form of chess, no?

Yeah, but a blitz blunders are a lot more common than classical so aren't ever going to be the greatest blunders IMO. This is the game btw:

Don't invade Russia in winter. And, what happens if it is a draw? Do you both live or die? Because that will change a lot.

It was a blunder by Anand allowing mate, then a blunder by Ivanchuk missing it! Two major blunders by top players in the same game, especially when one has been the reigning world champ for a while, is rare blitz or not.

Whoever fell for the first fool's mate made the worst blunder ever.
Most people aren't aware that it was actually named for a real person.

Fisher allowed his bishop to get trapped in an even position.
Peter Heine once missed a mate in 1.
I play 1 f4 e5 2. g4!? in bullet, 90% of my opponents doesn't see the mate.

Yes, we've already had a thread along those lines here. Pretty unbelievable stuff...

Surely it's worse to repeat it?
+1

1965 Capablanca Memorial Tournament in Havana. Boris Ivkov was alone in first place with only two rounds left, well on his way to the biggest tournament success of his career, over a field that included Smyslov, Polugaevsky, Spassky, Gligoric, Najdorf and others.
Playing Black against the tail-ender Garcia, he was an exchange and three pawns up, with four moves to go until the time-control:

One of the greatest blitz players ever to live - 6 time Leningrad/Petersburg champion Genrikh Chepukaitis once played blitz game against Taimanov. After 1. d4 d5 2. Bg5 e6 Chepukaitis lost his queen.

[I don't know if necroposts are allowed lol im new to the forums] i had a 400 elo opponent blunder from -19.5 to +M1 somehow, here is the game: https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/3ca482c9-e06b-11ed-948f-1b604301000f?tab=review
