That would be correct. The gentleman on the left is probably equally well known (or unknown, depending on the observer).

I know everyone is dying for the answer . . .

The photograph above that one is none other than Reuben Fine giving a ten-board blindfold simul in 1944.

And there I was, thinking it was Benjamin Braddock vs Mr Roper.

Both these photos were published in 1949.  Who recognizes these two masters?
