caruana lost to carlsen and falls below Grischuk

IMO, all the top 10 players are fairly equal, and all of them can beat each other. Almost nothing seperates them.

EXCEPT Carlsen. He is in a league of his own. He is super strong. Look at his game against Caruana earlier. He just played a weak opening, was slightly worse, and just waited for Caruana to make errors, which Caruana obliged. For Carlsen to lose, it will be headlines.

Caruana could have just played to draw, I suppose....but brings me back to my point, it takes something extraordinary to beat Carlsen.

I think Carlsen offered draw at some point.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of Carlsen, hardly ever he tries to go for the game, just move around till the opponent makes mistakes and capitalize them. I don't usually find his games exciting

Grischuk may well achieve 2800+ rating as well, but I still would not consider him, Caruana, and Aronian as rock solid 2800s.

Kasparov and Carlsen are rock solid examples of 2800s.

How I wish for peak Kasaparov vs Carlsen match (a dream match). Kasparov is the only one whose style and precision in attacking could/may well rock Carlsen's boat.

Kasparov might be a bit past his best-before date, by now, though.

So Garry is expired? Interesting.

Clearly an example of Freudian symbolism.

MrDamonSmith

There's a picture of a banana flashing a strawberry & pear but I can't get it to load on here for some reason. Now THAT'S Freudian symbolism

Just a tip. I'm not a Mod (on this forum, anyway) so it means nothing to me either way.

MrDamonSmith

Yep, that's the one!! But ya gotta admit though, that one is freakin hilarious. Amirite?
