Magnus does have the skill to win that game. But unfortunately (for all of us) that was his off day. All this fake scandal would have been avoided if Magnus won that game.

I'm pretty confident that someone will produce statistical evidence that will prove that Hans is cheating OTB.
I'm also pretty confident that the Hans stans are gonna continue to cling onto the small chance he's not cheating even if it's like 0.5%.
Then they will get 0.5% stitched into their pillows so they can take it to bed with them at night.
The fact that Hans has cheated for prize money in titled tuesday and pro chess league makes me think he doesn't deserve to play for prize money period, online or otb

All purported evidence showing Niemann cheating in OTB chess has been heavily manipulated, as likely as not because there's nothing suspicious about his OTB play. If you've read the report, which really has been written to portray him in the most suspicious light possible, and yet there's nothing there. They admit as much already on the first page.

Anyway, I have to ask the Niemann detractors, why they're so upset. Niemann admitted to cheating and having received bans from Chess dot com – and this was because Nakamura couldn't stop banging on about it, but Chess dot com still refused to either confirm or deny, and only issued a statement after Niemann's interview with Ramirez.
So now their beef is with him not having perfect recall (so he was 17y2m the last time, not 16y11m30d) and being a little economical with the truth. The only news in the Chess dot com report was that he had cheated in the official Chess dot com prizemoney events, and I most certainly agree that he should have been open about that. In the interview he said that he only cheated in free games to up his rating, but the pitchfork brigade can't seriously have thought that with that stated purpose, it meant a one-off game when he was 12 and 16, respectively?
So what do they want? Do they want another round of bans for Niemann, despite him having served them already? Also, Chess dot come have now given him a lifetime ban, introduced immediately after Carlsen's loss to him at the Sinquefield Cup. It's completely unclear why since there's no evidence that he's cheated online since August 2020. If Chess dot com have a problem with Niemann spilling the beans about his bans, perhaps they should have had words with Nakamura instead. What did they expect Niemann to reply once a high-profile chess streamer and world-class grandmaster had shouted it from the rooftoops?

The evidence from computer games is that if you've cheated twice then there's no hope for redemption. There really does seem to be a psychological barrier that once crossed, there's no going back.

Man, you can't get any numbers right, can you? 2690, not 2790. (And I had to correct you yesterday on the other number.)
Hans only managed a draw today with White against someone close to his rating, but he does seem to be playing OK so far. It's a long tournament, so we'll just have to see how he does. (Btw, I wasn't one of the people claiming Hans' rating is bogus. I just don't know.)
