Hans Niemann’s Mysterious Lack of Leaderboard Presence

We all know about the drama…

For some reason, Hans Niemann is not present on the blitz or bullet leaderboards where he should be based on rating. This is suspicious.

A few days ago, I noticed that you couldn’t find him on the Watch tab when he was playing. That was fixed quickly. However, you were still unable to search his username to find him. That took a bit longer, but it’s currently fixed as well. Now, he’s omitted from the Leaderboards.

I checked a few other top players and it seems that it’s specifically Niemann’s account that has these issues. Which is obviously quite intriguing.

Can anyone give an explanation?

An account has to have at least 20 games in the last 90 days in a pool to show up on leaderboards. I haven't looked to see if that's been reached or not but could be one explanation.

SoupSailor
He has 100s of games in the last 90 days, so that can’t be it.
SoupSailor
I believe they update instantly.

The beads may need to be replaced.

SoupSailor
His account is also not new. It is nevertheless possible that it’s regarded as such and that has something to do with the explanation.

Pretty positive they don't. There is some delay as updating things.

I just checked the Leaderboards before and after GM Nihal Sarin and GM Vincent Keymer’s blitz game, and they were updated with the players’ new ratings within five seconds.

You can't spell "leaderboards" without b-e-a-d-s

I remember when he was whooping Carlsen with the black pieces. Now he isn't showing up super high on the radar anymore. The timing is odd because it seems to coincide with around the time they started scanning for cheat devices. I'm sure those 2 things aren't related though.

SoupSailor
That’s possible. But when a user who hasn’t played a game in 90 days completes a game, the Leaderboards immediately update to reinstate them. That’s what should’ve happened with @HansOnTwitch.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case as previously mentioned. They first have to hit the threshold of at least 20 games in 90 days to even qualify to show in the leaderboards.

They've played 20 games in 90 days.

I know that for now. I was replying to your statement that they are immediately added to the leaderboards after playing the first game, which is not the case.

You mean that if a user loses their place on the leaderboards due to inactivity, they have to play 20 games to be considered active again and thereby be reinstated on the Leaderboards?

Hans will be fine. People need to stop worrying about him.
