Has anyone here on chess dot com ever actually played Bobby Fischer?  If so, what were your thoughts/impressions?

I played someone who drew Fischer twice in the 50s if that counts.

Interesting commentary Blake.  So Fischer stared at you like Tal.  You think he was just trying to intimidate you? (He didn't need to, I guess)  Check out Blake's game you all.

I think it was because I was playing the Najdorf which didn't mean anything to me at the time.

Man, that's incredible. Who would think to play NxP

I would have beat him at ping pong. Cool

INteresting that Bobby and Blake were both about the same age, 21 and 20.  Blake playing him is like talking religion with Jesus, OTB.

Was it part of the book back then? Certainly helps to explain why ...e6 is preferred in the 6) Bc4 variation of the Najdorf, which was the White line Fischer normally played

During the closing ceremony of Fischer's match with Spassky, Fischer took out a pocket set and set up a position on the chess board to show Spassy how he (Spassky) could not have drawn a game in their match with a different move.

You've got to love that kind of single-mindedness. Analyzing a game from their match was probably the last thing Spassky wanted to do, and at the closing ceremony too, but Fischer pulls out his pocket set and shows him anyway.

Hahahahahaha.

There's a photo of Fischer doing it too. Spassky's head isn't turned in the photo, but his eyes are looking off to the right where Fischer has set up the position on his pocket set. Maybe Spassky wanted to analyze too!
