Who in the candidates seems to be the strongest? Mamedyarov? Svidler? I should mention that I mean winning a strong man competition. Also, I just wanted to highjack stuperkings thread.

No. Carlsen > Aronian and always will be. Even if Aronian does eventually compete with Carlsen in the WC, and he probably will, I think Magnus will be the Kasparov to his Karpov.

But ratings are unreliable as they keep changing around after every game! That can't be an objective measure of strength, can it?

Except that Aronian has been trying or years to catch Magnus rating, and has thus far failed miserably.
