No, it is two different things. unless you change the rules of online chess there is still a need for OTB chess.
I like OTB chess you are stripped from any aids (no database, no analysis board)
you only have your chess knowledge and memory.
you don't feel the tension of a fight online.
I am not saying anything bad about online chess just saying why OTB chess isn't ended.
Has online chess ended most OTB chess?

the difference is clear, besides human contact. with OTB you have live handling and practical experience of the chess pieces. OTB brings you more interaction with the chess phonomenon and the teacher, be it a book or in person.
Best of both worlds is you take em into a computer room and let them play one another on screen. Set up a club, use this site, easy and cheap.
I was thinking of starting and mentoring a chess club at a local high school. But I was thinking about how I'd need to buy several sets and boards and maybe even get books to loan them. Then I though I could refer them to this site to look at the tactics problems here. Now I'm wondering if there is even a point to recruiting people in person, other than to teach them the basics. After all, they can just go on this site from the comfort of their own home, without having to arrange an extra ride home or buy a set.
