I wonder if I can still download Stockfish 8. If 15 is so strong, it should not take many games to notice the difference. 4 seconds per move, and 4 minutes deep think.
Is there free software to run the turnament? Or do I manually enter all moves back and forth? I can tell each that I have 3x as much time, so my delay works out.
I read that Stockfish 14 is 400 points higher rated than Stockfish 8, and therefore would win against AlphaZero. But so many games end in draws. Does Stockfish 14 actually win 90% of games against Stockfish 8? Or is it 90% draws, 9% wins, and 1% losses? Are they inflating ratings gains by not counting draws in the calculations? If so, I'd not be so sure AlphaZero is weaker.
Any chess computer tournament folks compared Stockfish 14 to 8 and know the win/loss/draw numbers? I find it suspicious they don't publish the draw stats.
