I've been doing so much stuff with chess resently that pretty much everything I think about ends up back on chess. I replay games in my head during finals (yeah it probably screwed my anatomy score too...). But that's true of anything I've pursued for any amount of time. When I learned the rubik's cube I'd do it in my head and dream about it. During soccer season/tennis season I dream about that. So it's not about chess being special, it's about whatever my compartmentalized brain is focusing on.
