Have you ever played a Grandmaster ?

Not counting simuls, friendlies, and online games - in other words this is in serious OTB chess:
>Peter Wells - He destroyed me
>Antonio Fernandes - I gave him a decent game but lost in the end
>Matthew Turner - I won!!
Yes i have, anyone heard of mark noble, one of the new zealand GMS, well i played him last week, he beat me, but it was fun

This guy is having you on if he's telling you he's a GM:

He's an FM, two ranks below GM (still a strong player but not a GM)

I understand the thread but, a FM is not a GM, However, the topic is about strong players. I think an FM is a strong player!!

OTB, the highest rated player I've played was an IM rated 2502 USCF and I lost pretty convincingly though I have drawn one game with him in a last round where he already had the win. Online, I've beaten a few IMs and GMs years ago in blitz or bullet, but always on time. I can't recall ever being in a better position when the flag fell.

I'm not sure how many I played. Among them, the legendary Lev Polugaïevki (simul, lost in 11 moves...), the arrogant Anatoly Vaïsser (rapid, lost in 24 moves), evergreen Jacob Murey (rapid, lost), former candidate Oleg Romanishin (simul, lost in 38 moves), and the so solid Nikolaï Spiridonov (slow swiss tournament, draw in 86 moves).
I also played many future GMs and contributed to their progresses by spanking a few of them
Well, when you play a GM, the important thing is to learn something out of it, when it's easy to be overwhelmed by emotions and waste the game into a blunder. My opinion.

I first drew a 2336 GM i Rilton Cup 16/17 and was then paired against Sergey Volkov rated 2620 something. I was close to equalizig when i blundered and lost in 25 moves. The sad thing is that my drew versus the first GM is input as a loss for me,I offered a draw. Both games is in the database

When I played in top level junior tournaments in the 80's, I beat at least one person who went on to become a grandmaster, and another who is an IM and one of Britain's top female players and chess writers. Suffice to say, they would probably both crush me now, due to the fact that I have taken a 25 year break from chess, whereas they clearly haven't!
That must be his gang
