And each player has day(s) to move. Default is 3 days per move, fastest is 1 day per move.
This takes away all the time pressure.
You can also play "live" chess where the game is completed in one sitting. E.g. 30 minutes per side. (a whole game could last 1 hour). If you're that new you'll lose a lost of games at first, but there are other new players on the site. Not everyone knows lots of openings and tactics and all that. Eventually you'll win a few even in live chess :)
Might help to remember we were all new once, and all good players have lost tens of thousands of games.
Hello. I am a new adult member (50) having subscribed today. I have followed a few of the on-line lessons in recent weeks and played some games against the computer. I have yet to risk a live game against a real person. This is partly becuase I am not sure of the etiquette.
As I have not played chess in my life (apart from a few games when I was at school years ago) I haev little knowledge of different openings and the most logical responses to them. This means I need to spend quite a long time thinking through sequences of moves and I suspect this would be annoying for an opponent. Any advice?
Clearly I need to build up experience but am at a bit of a loss where to start.
