Yep there are players who struggle and struggle but yet manage to carry on.

AlCzervik

aside from those titled, aren't we all just pushing wood for fun?

badenwurtca

Well the way some people carry on here you would think that they are only a couple of points away from getting the coveted GM title  lol.

AlCzervik

every day i'm still a month away from a chess title...

autobunny

The bunny pushes plastic to save the forest.  Or is plastic also bad?

RichColorado

i push plastic because it's cheaper . . . .

Btw I see that somebody brought back the thread that states people who are rated under 900 should not be allowed to play Chess. Yup this would of course be the type of person going around telling kids that Santa Claus does not exist, just awful. ( & Thanks as well for the posts and bumps ).

autobunny

just as long we push

badenwurtca

Yes indeed we have the " Duffers " in Golf and also the " Woodpushers " in Chess ( perhaps some people are doing both  lol ).

Wow! So in about 60 years (give or take) the game of chess would be dead. Everyone, GMs included, were 900 to lower at some point when just learning the game. So, if no one under 900 can play, there's no "new blood" entering the game. When everyone above 900 has died off, the game is effectively dead.

I guess at that point, nobody will care about ratings and the game will slowly re-emerge.

And I don't push wood, plastic or ceramic - I push a mouse . . .

badenwurtca

Thanks for the recent posts and bumps.

Depending on the context, wood pusher could a term for a low rated player, or just mean chess players in general, or perhaps a chess player that plays a lot of games.

pfarmbruster

It seems as though all I push is the mouse button!

---   The Chess Dictionary that I have here does indeed define a " Woodpusher " as a weak player who has no plans and little perception of the plans of his opponent ( They seem to have been reading my mind  rofl ).

Whenever I see the message 'You have lost your connection' - I'm pushing the 'Reconnect' button more than any other piece. happy.png

---   Yup these self-professed geniuses are still here and claiming to be nearing the title level. Mind you it is nice to see people feeling optimistic however I'm sure that was also the case on the Titanic as she set off on her maiden voyage ( look out for the icebergs ! ).

Kingsgam

cheers everyone

Why Woodpushers? Woodmovers seem more appropriate.
