Help !...I caught a babybird !...what do I do ?

strange but true.  this morning after the kids left for school, a bat lay alive but semi-paralyzed in my kids' bedroom.  apparently its wing was broken.  didn't have time to look at it as i was rushing to work.  my maid saw it and asked what to do with it.  after the last avian flu scare, i told her to wrapp it in paper & throw it away. 

unsure how it got up so high.  1 theory is that during the night the wind smashed it against the window.
