Help! Pro at having ability but still losing games.
You are probably just tired. This is the same for everyone including GMs. Just rest well and try playing the next day. You should be able to play much better.

It's funny you say that. That day I actually had gone on a hike and mounted a 14000 foot mountatin here in Rocky Mountains (close to where I live.) I suppose that although I wasn't feeling physically tired perhaps I was lacking the energy it would take to play games like chess, which require a lot of mental energy. It seems rather obvious in hindsight actually.
Thanks for the input!
Just putting this out there for the community to relate to, and for myself to get some good advice (:
This evening I played a couple of games of chess and played far below my ability level. I was doing good earlier; had won several games in a row, had applied good tactics, etc. However, when I sat down this evening and tried to play I could not get my head in the game. I made very bad mistakes right off the bat and badly lost both games because of how horrible I played ): The problem is that no matter how hard I try to focus or how intently I want to do well, my mind sometimes refuses to coorporate and goes into a "funk" where I am unable to think about the game that I am playing, or anaylze the moves I am about to make.
I want to do well, but doing well is made much more difficult due to this psychological element.
Anybody else having this problem? Any suggestions? o.O
