Just a quick message to say hi and introduce myself.  I googled chess and this was my first hit, so I've joined up and it looks pretty impressive so far....just hoping that it has lots of nice members, I'm sure it has!

I got into chess a few years ago, but haven't been into it for awhile.  Anyhows, it's great to be back into it, but I need a few games under my hat to get back into the swing of things.  I don't know about anyone else, but I find that chess is something that I need to play, at least every now and then, otherwise I soon start to forget things I've learnt.  It's been a while now since and played and I've forgotten so much....ah well, I'm sure it will all come back to me.  Although I was only a beginner anyway, long way to go.

I'm a bit of a nerd with things, I love books about anything, so I love my chess books and studying theory.  I use Chessmaster on my PC and I've just downloaded a chess game for my smartphone.

Anyhoos, please come say hi and hope to play a game with some of you sometime.  I'm off to have a look around chess.com, see what it's all about.....

Hello there, David. Newbie alert here as well, I joined roughly a week ago. This site seems incredibly resourceful, and just might be eligible for a premium account purchase for what I have seen so far. Truth be told, people fight in the fora - a LOT! But other than that, I don't see much wrong in spending your time in here.

thanks for all the welcome messages, much appreciated!  I am now the proud owner of the 'chess.com' android app on my phone, and it's much better than the chess game I already had.

I'm going to brush up on my skills for a little while before I start playing any games here, as I'll be wanting to take ages to take each turn.
