Improving your situational awareness... so that you NOTICE that your Queen is under attack, or that the opponent has walked into a Knight fork... will make a tremendous difference at the sub-1000 rating level.

Ngl the only reason I am 1,000+ is just analyzing my games and learning from my mistakes, don't blunder, I also know like no openings so you definitely can get 1,000+ plus without one, just learn basic opening principles, like developing your minor pieces, center control, and king safety
